Good News Everyone!

To steal a phrase from good old Professor Farnsworth of Futurama fame, "Good News Everyone!".
I spent 2 or 3 hours this afternoon sitting in the office of agency Super-Tronic Models International discussing contracts and jobs and eventually taking a pen and signing on the dotted line!

That's right, I am now signed by a fantastic Hong Kong/China agency here in HK, yay! The people who run and work at the agency are so friendly and the agency itself seems to be going from strength to strength. It's a very exciting time for me; I'll finally be able to work in Hong Kong and could end up working in China and the rest of Asia too.

In other news, my parents are coming to visit on Saturday for just over a week and I'm so excited! Mum's been on long haul flights before but never to Asia and my Step-Dad has only ever visited Europe. Apparently he's been looking up the plane, the route, what the airports will be like...he's like a kid in a candy store!
I can't wait to show them all the sights when they arrive. I plan on taking them to every single thing I can, starting with the Tian Tan Buddha in Lantau, the 10,000 Buddha temple in Sha Tin and maybe even treating them to a harbour ferry tour one evening, something that I haven't even done yet.

The day after they leave, I'm flying to Thailand for 4 days to visit my Dad, who's lived there for about 6 years. I'll also be meeting my little 3 year old half sister for the very first time, which is going to be fantastic. I've watched her grow up via photographs over the years but I've never made it to Thailand to meet her in person before now. Can't wait!

A few days after we get back from Thailand, Ras and I are heading to the U.K for a couple of weeks, so by the time I get back to H.K on the 8th October, I'm going to be absolutely exhausted and probably wishing I'll never have to see the inside of another plane again!

Happy Model-versary to me!

So I suddenly realised this morning that I missed my 4 year modelling anniversary, which was yesterday! I know it's not a big deal, so I don't expect cake (though cake is never turned away), but it's quite exciting to look back over the past 4 years and see how far I've come.

With that in mind, I'll be posting some of my favourite images from the past 4 years, starting with the very first photo shoot I ever did, a photograph taken by Chris Lowe, a friend of mine who asked me to pose for him on day in Abington Park, Northampton.

Once I'd done that shoot with Chris, I was pretty much hooked. I happened to be over at a friend's house for dinner not long after and met the lovely Araminta, who told me about Net-Model and said I should sign up if I wanted to give this modelling malarkey a go. A few days later (on  8/8/08 in fact), I signed up to the site and uploaded a few pictures.
Not very long later, I was approached by Andy K Stratford and a few days later, on a bit of the spur of the moment, he turned up at mine, camera and lights in hand, ready to help kick off my portfolio. I still absolutely adore a particular image that came out of that shoot, and I've had numerous people over the years tell me that they think of it as my 'signature shot'.

I've tried so many times to recreate this image with my updated look, but nothing comes close! 

Whilst still in my first year of modelling, I had the pleasure of working with so many wonderful people who really helped me build up my portfolio, gain experience and hone my skills as a model. The two images that stick in my mind are completely different to each other. The first is a shot taken at a group shoot at Kirby Hall, by a photographer called Matt Field.

The idea for this came to us on my cigarette break. It's such a haunting image <3

The next image is from a shoot I did with Ian Biggs (who I've been informed has gone across to photographing British Superbikes, awesome!). I wanted to do a punk inspired shoot and got my housemate (a punk herself) to help me with the styling. 

This was shot with completely natural light in my lounge.

Fast forward a little and it doesn't take me long to realise that as much as I admired the art nude models and enjoyed looking at their work, I wanted to BE one! Back to Andy again for my first nude shoot.

I look back at this now and feel pride at how free flowing and comfortable I look! 

2009 and 2010 saw me working with some fantastic photographers all over the country and ROI.

2011 had me doing my first 'proper' lifestyle shoot, duo nude shoot and something a little sexier than I'd previously done. There were so many pictures from 2011, it was hard to pick the ones that stand out to me! I wish I could include more, but this blog is already a little overloaded with images!

And welcome to 2012!
I moved to Hong Kong early this year with my boyfriend Ras, as I'm sure you'll know, and have been working just as hard as ever. January was the first anniversary of being full time and boy have I done a lot of work! Rather than show you a load of recent images you've no doubt seen in my recent blog posts and on my Facebook page, I thought I'd share with you a brand new image from my very latest shoot, as a reward for getting this far!

I never thought I'd be able to turn my hobby into a full time career, but here I am with several publications under my belt, having worked with some of the finest photographers the U.K, Ireland and Hong Kong has to offer and on the cusp of being signed to one of Hong Kong's leading agencies!

Tears of a clown...

It's been a while, hasn't it! I so apologise, but I've been so busy that I haven't had a chance to write for a while. I'm here now though, and that's what matters ;)

First of all, feast your eyes on this beauty! It was shot by Albert Chan (no link yet but I'll include it when I get one!) in Shenzhen last week in the most fabulous hotel imaginable! It had a good 4 or 5 rooms, all decorated beautifully and in a Chinese style <3

I don't think I've ever done a shoot in a bath before, and at least never fully clothed! The dress was beautiful and they kindly allowed me to take it home after the shoot, so watch out for it in upcoming work! It was difficult to keep my head (and massive hair!) out of the water without sliding down the bath and also trying to look as natural as possible, but I think I kinda nailed it ;) The tears were watercolour paints, and the whole ensemble reminds me of Frankenstein's Bride crossed with a crying clown.

Other than crying out multicoloured tears, I've been getting my little flat all sorted finally. I've gone for a lime green theme in the kitchen, purely through accessories (since I can't paint the walls as they're all stainless steel) and Ras and I took delivery of some stunning wooden furniture and a big corner sofa for the lounge. Our bedroom was already decorated but I think I'm going to paint a wall or two and the guest bedroom is getting a full makeover this month. It's so exciting to be in our own little place in Hong Kong, it finally feels a lot more like home now that I've made my mark on the flat!

Junk trips and photo shoots!

Just 6 days until I'm sitting on a plane on my way back to the U.K! I'm incredibly excited, can you tell? 

As well as that, I'm looking forward to my second junk trip of the year on Saturday with a lovely group of new friends. We've got the junk all day with unlimited wake-boarding and banana boating! Hiring a junk for the day is a great way to get out of the city, chill out and get to know new people as the minimum booking is normally around 12-15 people, so there are always people you don't know. I had a great time on the last trip, and I was the only girl who got up the courage to jump off the boat into the water!

As well as jumping off boats into the sea, I took some time out to dye my hair a super amazing ginger colour and shoot with the fantastic photographer Kinwai Cheung, stylist Nikei Mak and make up artist Shue Lai.

6 things I like about June...

Things I'm most looking forward to this month:

1. Seeing my Mum after 3 months and getting the biggest squeezy hugs.
2. Watching some of my favourite bands at Download Festival
3. Shopping and cocktails with my friend Anita 
4. My studio day at MWM Studio in Wokingham
5. Picnics in the park with my best friends
6. A short city break to Amsterdam with Ras

I've been getting the smallest hints of homesickness now that my trip is so close. It seems so soon and yet not soon enough that I'll be on that plane flying toward my friends, family and a pint of Strongbow (can't get it here for love nor money!).
This is the longest I've been away from any of my friends, let alone my family, so I can't wait to step into my Mum's house for some Mum-Hugs, a glass of wine and a natter on the back patio in front of the chimenea.

Of course, Download Festival is high on my list of things I can't wait for; they sold out of tickets before I managed to get one, but with a little networking on my part I've managed to grab myself a Guest Pass for the Friday with the (small) possibility of a visit backstage! There's a lot to be said for networking, ladies and gents!

The shopping here in Hong Kong is great, but there's one thing they're severely lacking, and that's a Primark! I know I should be telling you all that I miss Versace or Prada or something, but you can't beat Primark for cheap and cheerful, basic t-shirts, jeans, jackets and handbags! So a shopping trip with Anita is definitely on the cards.

The studio day is going to be great fun, my days at MWM always are! I'm looking forward to working with new and regular photographers and seeing what styles I can mold myself into!

To finish off our trip to the U.K, Ras and I are flying out to Amsterdam for a short city break. It's one of the places I've never been but always wanted to so I'm glad we've got this sorted whilst we're in Europe! Expect many pictures of sex shops, Anne Frank's house and bicycles!

As well as looking forward to the future, I thought I'd post a few pictures from shoots I've had since I've been in Hong Kong. I've just received a batch from 3 different shoots and couldn't decide which ones to blog about, so I'll post one from each and then maybe do a full post on the shoots another time.

True Magazine and the Hong Kong Wedding and Gift Show

The last week has been such a busy one for me! Flitting from castings to fittings and on to shoots has made me quite glad to have a day where I can get up, throw on a face pack and hair mask and relax (before heading out to Beertopia this afternoon!).

Yesterday I received a rather lovely parcel from a photographer I shot with a while ago containing the latest issue of True Magazine, featuring yours truly modelling some amazing outfits! This is the second magazine publication I've had over here (you can see the first one here) and I certainly hope it's not the last!

I'm also going to be walking for Fiesta Weddings at the Hong Kong Wedding and Gift Show next week. This is going to be my first bridal show, so I was rather excited to be asked to do it and even more excited when I saw how stunning the gowns were. Here's a few snaps I took whilst at the fitting yesterday.

I hear thunder, I hear thunder...

Hark! Don't you? Hark! Don't you?

I used to sing that as a child (as I'm sure many children did) and spend ages trying to remember the words the other day. It also dawned on me for the first time that the tune is the same as the french song "Frère Jacques", unless I've been singing them both wrong all this time.


It's been raining and thundering on and off here for a few days now, we had the best storm a few nights ago where there were no thunder claps, just the lightning. It evened out the next day though, with thunder claps but no lightning. I think I prefer it when it comes at the same time, because then I can sit and count the time between the thunder and the lightning and work out how far close the storm is!


I thought that since you all seemed to enjoy my Singapore pictures that you'd be interested in the photographs I took when I was in Phuket on my secret holiday. As I'm sure you read, Ras decided to take me on a holiday for my birthday this year but I had no idea where we were going, right up until we got to immigration on the other side (it was hard to miss the "Welcome to Thailand/Phuket" signs everywhere!). It was amazing surprise and a holiday I'll never forget. He'd booked us into The Banyan Tree Spa Resort, which I'll admit I'd never heard of until we arrived. 


We had our own private villa complete with pool, jacuzzi, outdoor shower, outdoor sunken bath, steam room and a bedroom surrounded by glass walls and a pond, making it look like we were floating! Every morning, two masseuses arrived to give us our morning 30 minute massage (named the 'Morning Delight', ahem) and a man arrived in a golf cart to bring us our breakfast before we set off to the spa for facials, manicures, pedicures, full body massages and general decadence!

We did some island hopping around Phi Phi island and I snorkeled for the first time. Beautiful!

If you want a relaxing, quiet and amazing holiday, I would definitely recommend heading to Phuket. I'd love to go back some day :)
