As promised, my newest publication!

I finally managed to get the scanner to work and produce mostly decent scans of my most recent work with Wedding Magazine, yay! I know I promised to upload them last week but with the scanner not working and then being away in Thailand for a few days (pictures from that holiday very soon!), I only managed to get around to it today.
I hope you enjoy looking at them as much as I enjoyed twirling around in fabulous dresses! Click on the images to make them larger and try to ignore the dodgy scanning on some of them ;)

All images were beautifully captured by Chung Shum, styled by Onion C and the hair and makeup was created by Helen Zee@Fresh One Beauty. The backdrop was provided by JNC Wedding Decoration Gowns were supplied by Amelia Wedding and Elysian Bridal Couture <3

I'm spending the rest of today going through my holiday photos from Thailand and pictures from my Mum and Step-Dad's visit last week as well as packing for my 2 week trip back to the U.K. I'll be glad when all this travelling is over; I've been on the go for almost a month straight now. As much as I love being in new places and seeing people, sometimes all a girl wants is her nightie, a glass of wine and a good film!

Tears of a Clown...

This week I have mostly been playing tour guide to my parents, who are here to visit for 10 days. John (my step-dad) had never been out of Europe and Mum had only been to the U.S, never toward the east, so they are both really excited to be here.
We've seen the Tian Tan Buddha, Victoria's Peak, they've been to Macau and tomorrow we're going to the 10,000 Buddhas temple and Kam Shan Country Park to see the wild monkeys. It was Mum's birthday the day they arrived and so we took her down to Shek-O beach so that she could paddle in the South China Sea and get sand between her toes <3.

It's wonderful having them here, showing them the sights, sounds, tastes and smells of what has very fast become one of my favourite places in the world, and my home. We've been here 6 months now and every so often I do still stop and think "Wow! I actually live in this place. This is my home!". Normally when I'm on the ferry going across the harbour or on a hike looking across the sea and the outlying islands.

Now, I promised all of you who have joined me on my Facebook Page that I'd have some new images to share with you tonight. Fear not! My Dropbox folder has been pinging all day and I've finally got the last of them downloaded.
They're from my recent shoot with HumbleJim Photography, Albert Chan and Taxi makeup, one image from which I posted in my Model-versary blog a few weeks ago.
I had such an amazing time working with those three and sincerely hope we get to do it again some time. Taxi's styling skills are phenomenal - she was the makeup artist, hair stylist and wardrobe stylist for the shoot and, let me tell you, there was no "jack of all trades" going on there! Absolutely brilliant attention to detail and she's wonderfully creative and talented!

I absolutely *adore* the emotion in my face here. Like some sort of sad Chinese clown!

The bath really was this colour!

I hope you enjoy, and please do let me know which one is your favourite! I just can't decide!

Tears of a clown...

It's been a while, hasn't it! I so apologise, but I've been so busy that I haven't had a chance to write for a while. I'm here now though, and that's what matters ;)

First of all, feast your eyes on this beauty! It was shot by Albert Chan (no link yet but I'll include it when I get one!) in Shenzhen last week in the most fabulous hotel imaginable! It had a good 4 or 5 rooms, all decorated beautifully and in a Chinese style <3

Photography: Albert Chan. Hair and Makeup: Taxi makeup
I don't think I've ever done a shoot in a bath before, and at least never fully clothed! The dress was beautiful and they kindly allowed me to take it home after the shoot, so watch out for it in upcoming work! It was difficult to keep my head (and massive hair!) out of the water without sliding down the bath and also trying to look as natural as possible, but I think I kinda nailed it ;) The tears were watercolour paints, and the whole ensemble reminds me of Frankenstein's Bride crossed with a crying clown.

Other than crying out multicoloured tears, I've been getting my little flat all sorted finally. I've gone for a lime green theme in the kitchen, purely through accessories (since I can't paint the walls as they're all stainless steel) and Ras and I took delivery of some stunning wooden furniture and a big corner sofa for the lounge. Our bedroom was already decorated but I think I'm going to paint a wall or two and the guest bedroom is getting a full makeover this month. It's so exciting to be in our own little place in Hong Kong, it finally feels a lot more like home now that I've made my mark on the flat!

As soon as I get more images from the above shoot, I'll be sharing them, and even ore will be going up on my Facebook page (where you'll get backstage images and news too!). See you here!

The Singapore Sling

Last week my boyfriend was called away to work in Singapore for a week and so I decided to take advantage of the free accommodation and join him for some last minute sightseeing and shooting time!
The first day I was there it rained almost non-stop and so the only sightseeing I got to do was from the window of my apartment but the next day I was off to work with local photographer, Yew Kwang.

I've just spotted an image on his MM account and I'm sure he won't mind me hot linking it here!

There's also 4 more over at his Flickr page if you want to have a look!

As I was only in Singapore for 3 days, and it had rained the first and I was working one the second, I headed out early on the final day, armed with a camera, bottle of water and my imagination (due to the distinct lack of a map) to explore Singapore. I knew roughly in which direction to go if I wanted to hit China Town, so that's what I did.

This was the entrance to a small square with tons of Chinese restaurants and snack bars.

Lanterns were everywhere but these ones were especially pretty

Old meets new, east meets west

This was a little place called Lim Chee Guan, which is famous for its sliced pork. I had some of their signature pork, it
was gorgeous!

This is the oldest Hindu temple in Singapore, built in 1887. The detail was amazing!

After my jaunt around China town, I hopped on the MRT for a cool down (it was very hot) and headed over to the area around the harbour to have a look at all the modern (and very white) buildings they had over there.

The civilian war memorial for all those lost during the Japanese occupation of Singapore

The financial district of cities always seem to have the best skylines

This is the Merlion, Singapore's mascot and (apparently) national personification. The spray from the water was fantastic - very refreshing!

After my walk, I met up with Ras for some dinner and yet another walk, though this time we had a destination in mind! When I knew I was coming to Singapore, I got in touch with my friend Anita De Bauch who was here on her tour of S.E Asia last year for some recommendations on where to go. As well as the night safari (from which I only managed to salvage one picture; it's hard taking pictures in the dark from a moving tram when you can't use flash), Anita recommended that we head to the famous Raffles Hotel to have a Singapore Sling in the Long Bar. So, with that in mind, Ras and I set off for a walk through the city to Raffles.

A not-so-great shot of the financial district at night. Wish I'd taken a tripod!

Cute little sign which I'm pretty sure was not put there by the police, but is instead a tourist photo opportunity for people like me :)

Pretty blue bridge on our way to Raffles

This is the Marina Sands casino and hotel. 3 buildings with what looks like a boat balancing on top!

The absolutely gorgeous Raffles Hotel. Apparently it started as a 10 bedroom bungalow next to the sea. It's now really quite huge and is miles from water due to all the land reclamation that's happened in Singapore

The Singapore Sling - invented in the Long Bar itself. They had so many choices, but we went for the classic.

The bar itself was gorgeous (unfortunately I failed to take any pictures of it!). It's modelled on a 1920's Malayan plantation and has gorgeous mechanical fans on the ceiling (supposedly for cooling the room down, though I doubt they really make any difference!).

The nest time Ras gets called away on a business trip to Singapore (which is likely to happen, he's on another one in Tokyo as we speak, but I couldn't get flights t such short notice!), I'm definitely going to go with him again. Singapore has so much to offer, I feel that I barely scratched the surface!

I'll leave you with a picture of a flying squirrel. I had no idea they were so large (about the size of a domestic tom-cat). It didn't fly/glide for us though, all we got was him eating his dinner!

Latino Caribbean Carnival Rugby Night at Play!

Last week before jetting off to a secret location (which I discovered at the airport was Phuket - more about that later) I was invited to walk at a fashion show welcoming the Guyana and Uraguay rugby teams to Hong Kong, where they would be competing in the Rubgy 7's. I must admit that rugby isn't particularly my thing but I know enough to know that for the Guyana team, this was a big deal. They'd never played at the 7's and so the caribbean community of Hong Kong got together to throw them an exclusive private party at one of Hong Kong's premier nightclubs, Play.
As well as some amaxing performances from caribbean carnival dancers, there was an auction, dancing, free food and, of course, the fashion show.

As well as wearing gorgeous dresses by Fifi, bikinis by Pualani Hawaii, lingerie by The Powder Room, kaftans and stunning jewellery, we were also walking down the runway accompanied by the very handsome gentlemen from the Guyana rugby team.

The organisers wanted the show to be more than just a walk up and down, so we were instructed to dance up the catwalk, which is why I appear to be dancing. The two men behind me are also players from the Guyana team, Richard Staglon and Elwin Chase.

A quick shot after the show with the designers.

After the show Ras and I stayed for a few quick drinks with the girls and headed home for a reasonably early night's sleep before getting back up at 6am to head to the airport.

I'll blog about that tomorrow, but to tide you over here's a quick picture:

Latex, Fashion and Big Hair!

Various fashion and news websites were posting about a certain fantastic model named Andrej Pejic yesterday. What was the occasion? This gorgeous male model was used by Dutch retailers Hema to promote their new push-up bra.
Picture linked from the Daily Mirror website - Andrej Pejic modelling Hema's push up bra

Personally, I think it's excellent advertising - not only have they caught the attention of the world by using a male model to advertise their bra, but the images tell you everything you need to know about whether it works or not! How better to prove that the bra really does increase your cupsize by 2 sizes than to put it on someone with completely flat chested!? Check out Andrej's other work here: Andrej's Storm Portfolio.
On another note, whilst searching for Hema's website, I discovered that it does this! How cool!?

As well as perving reading about Andrej's recent campaign, I shot with the wonderfully talented Joe Gascoigne again yesterday, this time with the help of makeup artist Leanne and wardrobe stylist Erica Krasickaite
Joe rather amazingly edited a few of the shots by the next morning and Leanne took a number of backstage/behind the scenes shots with my little camera.

I think this evening I'm going to settle down in front of the TV with a face pack and a giant mug of Chai Latte and relax <3

Wonderful, Wonderful Copenhagen!

So last week the boyfriend and I spent a long weekend in Copenhagen, Denmark, his home country, to celebrate our two year anniversary. Despite having been together for this long, this was the first time I'd visited Denmark and I'd been looking forward to it quite a bit! If you're not in the least interested in Copenhagen, skip to the end where you'll find some new images of me!

On the first day, I made Ras take me to see the famous Little Mermaid statue (which I dutifully said in my best terrible English-accented Danish before he'd take me there - this was a running theme), which was beautiful. According to the guidebook, the poor girl has had her head chopped off numerous times, arms lopped off on a few occasions and has been painted a shade of bright red since she was first put there in 1913. I can't see why though, I thought she was utterly charming!

Den Lille Havfrue
Not to be confused with 'Den Lille Jomfrue', which means "The Little Virgin" Just a small snippet of information I picked up whilst there!

As well as visiting my favourite childhood character, we also spent some time wandering around the coutryard of Amalienborg, the Royal Palace. We didn't see much apart from a rather un-impressed looking Royal Guard...

Shortly after I took this picture, they all started shouting across the courtyard to each other and began what looked like it could have been a changing of the guards type affair. Except that they did it in their own time, not so much marching as swinging their legs and sauntering across the road!

We also spotted the "Occupy Copenhagen" encampment outside the "RÄdhuspladsen" (town hall) and I tried my photography skills out on a local neon-lit building.

Ok, it's not fantastic. It's out of focus, shakey and it was dark. But...it was dark,  I was waiting to cross the road and I had no tripod! I still like it though :)

Since this is a modelling blog, I shall now post this:

Photographer: Joe Gascoigne. Hair and Makeup - Ania Paterak

This shot was taken as part of a fantastic shoot with the above named creatives, Joe and Ania. I decided I wanted to go for the crazy eyebrows as it's something that I've seen pop up every so often in magazines and on the catwalk.

Yay! Orange trousers and a teal blouse! Colour-tastic!

I also updated my Flickr account - here's the link!
And my Google+ Profile - here!

I'll be adding a few more Copenhagen pictures tomorrow, including a stunning picture I took in the "Glyptoteket" of 4 paintings done at Denmark's very first female Art Nude Studio Day!

Dressing up box

Today's blog post is going to be a showcase of images that all have one thing in common - the amount of squealing I did when I discovered what I'd be wearing.
Not a year goes by without me throwing some elaborate fancy dress themed party at least 3 times (Sci-Fi, Dinosaurs, Literal Band Names, 1920's, to name a few), so when I get to do this on photoshoots, I get super excited! It's even better doing it for work, because there's almost always a fantastic team making it look 10 times better than my home-made costumes and special effects makeup!

So, here's a selection of some highly styled, interesting, incredibly fun "fancy dress" shoots I've done in the last few months:

© Holly Cox. I know you've seen it before, but it was great fun! Playing the White Queen from a chess board

© Phillip Skraba. Yes, another one you've seen before, but  who doesn't like Post Apocalyptic Hobo Models?!

© 3D - G Photography. This was so much fun! The dress is from Angel's Fancy Dress shop in London and was absolutely  stunning - beautifully made and terribly Victorian, dahling
© Ian Mears. This wonderful shot was taken at Miss Aniela's Shoot Experience Day at Dalston Height ins London. I seem to remember that the day had ended and Ian and I managed to grab a few minutes at the end to take advantage of the stunning natural light coming through the skylight.

© Dave Ormerod. I know there doesn't appear to be a lot of dressing up going on in this image, but it certainly has real emotion and character. Dave's little note on his Flickr page is very touching.

As well as dressing up for shoot and for my own parties, I also have my flatmate's birthday, he's having a retro Sci-Fi themed party, with a heavy Barbarella influence. He's been making our flat look slowly more like a spaceship for the last few weeks (I kid you not - I'll post pictures when it's finished!) and the doorbell has been ringing constantly for weeks with deliveries of rayguns, flying saucer sweets, tin foil and various other bits and bobs!
I can't wait!

London Uprising

The other week I worked with the very talented Phillip Skraba on Brick Lane, London. The theme of the shoot was Post-Apocalyptic high fashion and so we also had some amazing outfits by designers Alexander Lamb, Crystal McFarlane and Abby Lee. Phillip had me running up and down streets in *huge* heels, which was quite a task and the weather was fab, making our rather warm outfits even warmer!
The shoot was great fun, the makeup and styling incredible and the overall images are fantastic! We had quite a large team, credited at the end of this post :)

Here are the images!

In other news, I modelled for a workshop run by Miss Aniela yesterday in the most fabulous location and 5 other models as well as the 10 photographers who booked on the workshop. I've been told I may recieve one or two images from that at some point, so I'll make sure I post them if I do! The day was great fun, with some fantastic outfits (I work a huge perspex hat at one point!) and a scrummy buffet lunch :)
